Bernhard did a great job in his write up for the watch, so I didn't bother taking a million photos- for that, please click here.
Overall, my impressions are positive. However, there are several things that bug me about it. First off, the size is a bit too big and bulky. I'm all for large watches like Panerais etc, but something about the size was just a bit "off". As others have indicated, the lug holes are awkwardly positioned, which make the watch look really funny when one wears it with the supplied nato strap. You get used to it after a while, but it still seems odd. Also, the lug width of 22mm seems a bit overkill. I would have liked a more faithful homage. Despite these gripes, I'm sure Rolex/Tudor has a winner here with this new watch. Priced at ~$4200 USD worldwide, make no mistake. This will be a hot seller.
The Wrist Shot
Interesting to note, the S/N and Ref. Number of the watch are engraved on the lower lug, similar to the Rolex Oyster Quartz models discontinued in 2000. Like the Deep Sea, there are no numbers between the lugs.
This is probably the biggest collection of original Black Homeplates ever assembled.
The other hotly anticipated release of the week- the iPhone 4 is truly the most revolutionary iteration since the original bowed 3 years ago. Featuring a stunningly crisp screen, new industrial casing, and a bevy of upgrades, this is one serious device! In fact, with the exception of the black Homeplate montage, the pics in this post were all taken with its new 5mp camera. Not bad for a phone! In fact, I feel it almost negates the need to bring along a camera for most simple point and shoot uses.
So far, no big minuses. The battery lasts much longer, and the inclusion of 512 megs of RAM make this a very snappy little device. Two thums up!!
FIts perfectly in this limited edition LV camo case designed for the original iPhone
